Craven Community College’s (Craven CC) Barbering and Massage Therapy programs will host a special community event on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kelso Hall on the New Bern campus. The event will raise funds to support the launch of two new workforce programs at New Bern and West Craven high schools.
The community is invited to receive complimentary services from Craven CC students in exchange for donations that will directly benefit these new programs. Services will include:
- Free chair massages provided by Massage Therapy students
- Free haircuts provided by Barbering Concepts students
Donations are greatly appreciated and may be made by cash only. Funds raised during the event will help purchase supplies for a new Nail Technician program at West Craven High School and the new Barbering program at New Bern High School.
The event reflects Craven CC’s continued commitment to workforce development and partnerships that create educational opportunities for local students.
“This event is an excellent example of our students using their skills and talents to give back to the community while also investing in the next generation,” said Zomar Peter, Associate Vice President for Students. “These new high school programs will provide students with hands-on career training and valuable pathways toward future employment and continued education.”
The college hopes to raise enough funds to fully support supply needs for both programs as they begin serving students. Community members are encouraged to attend, support local students, and help strengthen career education opportunities across Craven County.
