When Dominic Bradfield graduated with his associate in arts degree in 2025, he already had a head start on his academic journey—and the confidence to take on new challenges.

“My experience at Craven prepared me for being independent in ways such as registering for my classes and expressing myself through oral and written communication,” he said.

Dominic earned his degree while enrolled in Craven Early College, which provides students with the opportunity to graduate in five years with a high school diploma and an associate degree. That independence and self-discipline have carried him forward as he continues his education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). Since transferring, Dominic has become an executive board member of a cultural club on campus and was recently offered admission to UNCG’s Honors College—an achievement he counts among his proudest so far.

Reflecting on his time at Craven, Dominic encourages current students to stay focused and persistent.

“My advice is to stick it out to the end," he said. "I know that graduation can seem so far away, but it will be worth it. Graduation is a time where you can tell your past self, ‘I did it!’ Whether you are heading into the workforce or continuing your education, I say once more, stick it out through the end.”
