FAFSA Night for Area High Schools

Are you a graduating high school senior and need help applying for financial aid? Join us for FAFSA Night! This free event will be held at the following locations and times:

New Bern High School
Tuesday, Dec. 3 @ 5:30 p.m.

West Craven High School
Tuesday, Dec. 3 @ 5:30 p.m.

New Bern Christian Academy
Monday, Dec. 9 @ 4:30 p.m.

New Bern High School
Thursday, Jan. 23 @ 5:30 p.m.


Be sure to bring:

  • Social Security Number (SSN)
  • 2023 federal tax returns and W-2s
  • Dependent students need a parent present, along with their SSN, tax forms, and W-2s

Create Your Federal Student Aid Account Before Attending (Must be completed 3 days prior to completing the financial aid application)

  1. Navigate to https://studentaid.gov/
  2. Click on "Create Account" in top right-hand corner of page.
  3. Click "Get Started."
  4. Follow instructions on creating a username and password.
  5. You will need to enter your Social Security Number (SSN), full name, email address, phone number, and date of birth. If you do not have a SSN, follow the prompts to create a username and password and answer questions to verify your identity.
  6. Any person contributing their information to the FAFSA must create a
    Federal Student Aid username and password.
  7. Once you create your username and password, you must wait until the Social Security Administration has confirmed your identity. This takes 1-3 days on average and will show your username as "matched" when you log in.
  8. Once your ID and password have been confirmed and matched, you may complete your 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application.
