NEW BERN — Lieutenant Governor Rachel Hunt will visit Craven Community College’s (Craven CC) Havelock campus Thursday, Feb. 5 for the 11th stop of her Future-Ready Community College Tour. During the visit, the Lieutenant Governor will meet with college leadership for a tour of Craven’s iconic Institute of Aeronautical Technology and the STEM Center, home to Craven’s partnership with the N.C. State Engineering Program.

“We are excited to share the opportunities available on our Havelock campus and how they align with the Lieutenant Governor’s vision for a Future-Ready North Carolina,” said Craven CC President Dr. Ray Staats. “Through our aviation-focused programs, strong partnership with MCAS Cherry Point, and engineering collaboration with N.C. State University, the Havelock campus is creating clear, local pathways from education to employment that strengthen our region’s workforce and economy.”

Lieutenant Governor Hunt’s policy platform, Future-Ready North Carolina, champions investments in child care and early childhood education and workforce development, in part through North Carolina’s community colleges. As a member of both the State Board of Education and the State Board of Community Colleges, the Lieutenant Governor will also emphasize Career and College-Ready Graduate programs.

The North Carolina Community College System includes 58 institutions dedicated to educating the leaders of tomorrow by providing affordable college courses and programs to anyone across the state. From animals and the environment to trades and mechanics, these schools offer entry-level programs across dozens of industries and provide continuing education to those interested in strengthening their skills in specific areas.
