Scholarships and funding opportunities are available to most students. Public Safety students (fire, EMS, paramedic, law enforcement) may be eligible for 100% fee waivers after registering for classes. Learn how to transfer your military skills and experience to civilian careers in the manufacturing industry. The Advanced Manufacturing Tools for Veterans class teaches participants how to transfer their military skills and experience onto their resume in a language that is recognized by the manufacturing industry. The ultimate goal for this program is to prepare participants for careers and connect them with career opportunities in North Carolina. This course is conducted by the Cape Lookout Squadron of the United States Power Squadrons. It will provide basic boating knowledge education, including both Federal and North Carolina State required education. A traditional classroom education format will be used. Learning is facilitated with use of the America’s Boating Course student manual (included in cost), nautical teaching aids, and supportive PowerPoint (PPT) visual aids. The 16-hour program spans two Saturdays, beginning at 8 am and ending at 4 pm. Instruction gives you the basics you need to enjoy your time on the water safely and includes navigation, nautical charts, digital charting, and chart plotting. This format meets the standards set by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the National Association of Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA).
