NEW BERN – Craven Community College (Craven CC) and Fayetteville State University (FSU) recently signed an agreement that will help qualified Craven CC graduates transfer to FSU. Administrators from both institutions convened at FSU on May 29 to sign the agreement, called the Bronco Benefit, which will provide a seamless transfer process for Craven CC students who complete specified two-year degree programs.

Craven CC is one of 15 North Carolina community colleges who have joined the Bronco Benefit initiative. FSU selected partner community colleges based on their strategic plans and transfer rates.

"Our partnership with Fayetteville State's Bronco Benefit program is exciting for Craven CC graduates," said Craven CC Vice President for Instruction Dr. Kathleen Gallman. "It creates a smooth path for our students to continue their education and earn a bachelor's degree."

The agreement offers guaranteed admission for Craven CC students who sign a letter of intent to enroll at FSU following the completion of one of the following programs:

  • Associate in Arts
  • Associate in Arts - Teacher Prep
  • Associate in Engineering
  • Associate in Fine Arts (Music or Visual Arts)
  • Associate in General Education
  • Associate in Science
  • Associate in Science - Teacher Prep

"With FSU's program options closely matching our associate degree programs, this is a convenient way for students to build on their achievements," added Gallman. "We're committed to lifelong learning, and university partnerships like this provide excellent local opportunities for our students."

Other Bronco Benefits will include a waived application fee, an FSU transfer liaison with availability on the Craven CC campus and virtually, FSU Community College Athletics Day, and virtual Q&A sessions. Students with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher who successfully complete 30 semester credit hours will also have access to transfer assistance and guidance from FSU's Office for Adult Learners, Transfer, and Military Students.

Anyone interested in this opportunity should contact Curriculum Program Specialist Stephanie Barrows at 252-638-7226 or barrowss@cravencc.edu.
