Craven Community College (Craven CC) is continuing to register new and returning students for the spring 2021 semester through Jan. 9. Students can register online, schedule virtual advising appointments or visit the New Bern or Havelock campuses Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Current students can go online and use WebAdvisor to view the class listing for a streamlined registration process.

“The end of the year can be hectic, but it is also a great time for students to register for classes,” said Zomar Peter, dean of Student Services. “Whether it’s a returning, transfer or high school student, or one looking to start at Craven for the first time, going into the new year with an academic plan already in place will be extremely beneficial.”

With hundreds of certificates, diplomas and degree programs, the college’s assorted catalog has something for everyone’s academic aspirations. The convenient and affordable selection of seated and online classes can be finished in just eight, 10 or 16 weeks and is suitable for students working toward an associate degree, in high school or already enrolled at a four-year university.

There are several programs available in the spring semester for students of all interests. Students who are seeking to enhance musical performance skills, want additional music training for their career or would like to transfer to a bachelor’s degree program in music would benefit from the Associate in Fine Arts in Music program.

For those interested in hands-on careers, the Automotive Systems Technology program can provide training to become an auto technician, while the Manufacturing Technology program exposes students to valuable high-tech equipment, technology and concepts applicable in a variety of advanced manufacturing industries.

For the more tech-savvy types, programs such as Information Technology and Health Information Technology can open up students to a plethora of modern technology-based careers, while the Business Administration program can prepare students to seek an assortment of career fields in business management.

And for students interested in taking to the skies, the Institute of Aeronautical Technology on the Havelock campus offers the Aviation Systems Technology program that provides practical training with a wide variety of military and civilian aircraft.

Many hands-on training programs are also available at the Volt Center, the college’s workforce training facility located at 205 First Street. Several classes are available to help students learn a new trade or develop existing skills, including carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, small engine repair and welding.

Financial aid and scholarships are available for students who qualify. Students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Virtual advising is now available online, so students and parents can meet virtually with the Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs departments. “I would encourage students to act now,” said Peter. “Set yourself up for success in 2021 by scheduling a virtual appointment or stop by and see an advisor to get your education plan on track now.”

Regular Term (16 weeks) and A-Term classes (8 weeks) start on Monday, Jan. 11. The college also offers Flex-Term classes (12 weeks) that start Feb. 9 and B-Term classes (8 weeks) beginning March 10.
