His performances connect audiences to the legacies of Mississippi John Hurt, Elizabeth Cotten and Charley Patton, tracing the music’s deep cultural lineage from Africa to Appalachia.

“Hubby Jenkins represents the living heartbeat of America’s musical heritage,” said Jennifer Baer, Director of the Lifetime Learning Center. “His performances are as educational as they are moving, inviting audiences to experience the beauty, complexity and resilience woven into our nation’s musical traditions.”
