This class is designed to teach the basics in acrylic painting. You will learn how to sketch, mix colors, blend and paint. Although there are many types of brushes, you will learn the specific brush type needed for the project you will be working on. You will also learn how to clean and maintain your brushes so they can last longer. Each class will begin with a brief demonstration of how to put all of this together to create your masterpiece!

This 500-clock hour course is designed for students to ride with local rescue squads or ambulance services to hone the skills learned in the classroom. The North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Sciences requires this of all paramedic students. Students who complete our Paramedic certificate program may be eligible to transfer credits into Carteret Community College’s Associate in Applied Science in Emergency Medical Science Bridge degree program.

The P.A.L.S. course is designed to certify Emergency Medical Personnel in Pediatric Advanced Life Support through the American Heart Association. This course teaches the proper evaluation and treatment of a pediatric patient in cardiopulmonary arrest. Upon successful completion, the student will be awarded P.A.L.S. certification from the American Heart Association. Pre-requisite: It is desirable but not required that an ALS certification be held.

This course is designed to prepare students for the North Carolina State Personal Lines Insurance Agents Examination. The difference between this course and Property and Casualty is that this course does NOT include the Commercial Section. The Commercial material is not on the state test.

This course is designed to provide instruction in the technical procedures for preparing and dispensing drugs in the hospital and retail settings under supervision of a registered pharmacist. Topics include drug packaging and labeling, out-patient dispensing, hospital dispensing procedures, controlled substance procedures, inventory control, and non-sterile compounding. Upon completion, students should be able to perform basic supervised dispensing techniques in a variety of pharmacy settings. Each student enrolled in this section is expected to attend all the meeting times and location listed below. The online work may be done anytime during the week, and the number of hours listed indicate how much time a student should anticipate it taking to complete the online assignments each week. Courses with both classroom and clinical components, have additional times listed for the clinical dates, which are located off campus.

The key to preparing savory pizza pies starts with the pizza dough. You will learn the steps for mixing, rising, and shaping the pizza dough. Learn about the variety of sauces and toppings and perfect your own homemade pizzas in our pizza oven.

The Basic Pneumatics training course covers how work, force, and energy are applied to principles of pneumatics. Shows operating principles of reciprocating, positive displacement, rotary, and dynamic air compressors. Covers primary and secondary air treatment. Includes valves, logic devices, cylinders, and air motors. This course has no prerequisites.

This course is designed to provide training in topics related to legal knowledge or applications, including ethical decision-making. Course topics may include but are not limited to ABC law & procedures, arrest, search and seizure, Police Law Institute topics, constitutional law, criminal law, juvenile law, ethics, motor vehicle law, civil liability, legal update, nuisance abatement, and gambling and video game machine legal issues.

Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the basic concepts, skills, and techniques involved in pasta making. The course focuses on various aspects such as dough preparation, rolling and cutting techniques, hand-cutting and shaping methods, creating flavored doughs, mastering stuffed pasta, preparing sauces, and learning how to cook and store pasta effectively.

The course will focus on preparing participants for the PMP exam by providing a thorough understanding of the project management lifecycle and the tools and techniques needed for successful project execution. Students will gain practical experience in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects. This training also serves as preparation for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification.

This course is the second of three courses designed to assist the provisional broker to meet the 90-hour post-licensing educational requirements set forth by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission. This course consists of high-level advanced instruction covering contracts and closing. This course will also discuss license status and education issues. This course is designed to meet the educational requirements for a provisional broker as prescribed by the NC Real Estate Commission. This 18-hour course of instruction will assist those that are not self-learners. You get a 16-hour activity and video-based instruction, followed by an online-proctored examination. Must come to class with book and online exam answer key (see links above). Registration/Payment closes 3 days before start of class.

This 2-hour course explores a career as a Surgical Technologist. Linked to our Surgical Technology program, topics include specifics on Craven’s training program, certification requirements, and employment outlook in the field. Students will learn if the career is a fit for their goals and interests as well as the next steps in the pathway to certification.
