This 470 clock hour course is broken down into topics including: Flux Core Welding (GMA), GMAW and FCAW equipment and filler metals, GMAW & FMAC Plate, FCAW-Pipe, GTAW-Pipe, GTAW-low alloy and stainless steel pipe, SMAW-open root pipe welds. Students will receive instruction through lecture, demonstration and practical applications. When you complete the program, you’ll receive National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certification for Welding Level 3.

Emphasis on aging process including mental, social and physical needs of the elderly, patient’s rights, nutrition management, elimination procedures, safe environment, restorative services, personal and special care procedures and activities, human body structure and function and related common disease/disorders, communication and documentation, death and dying, and roles of the nursing assistant and health team members. A skill/competency evaluation is required. The course includes class, laboratory and clinical learning experiences. Upon satisfactory completion of the course and skill/competency evaluation, the graduate is eligible to apply for listing as a Nurse Aide I by the N.C. Division of Facility Services. Each student enrolled in this section is expected to attend all the meeting times and location listed below. This course must follow the guidelines established by the NC Office of EMS. The Office of EMS must approve courses that include portions delivered via distance education. The curriculum for the AEMT Refresher Educational program shall be the 2009, or most current release of the United States Department of Transportation (US DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) National Education Standards. The AEMT Refresher Educational program must be conducted by an approved Advanced Educational Institution as defined in the rules of the North Carolina Medical Care Commission. The lead instructor for the AEMT Refresher Educational program must be a NC credentialed Level II EMS Instructor at the AEMT or Paramedic level as defined in the rules of the North Carolina Medical Care Commission. Student prerequisite/entry requirements: Currently holds a valid North Carolina, NREMT or other State EMS Credential at level or held an Advanced Level North Carolina EMS Credential (Paramedic) that has expired within the last four (4) years.

The P.A.L.S. course is designed to certify Emergency Medical Personnel in Pediatric Advanced Life Support through the American Heart Association. This course teaches the proper evaluation and treatment of a pediatric patient in cardiopulmonary arrest. Upon successful completion, the student will be awarded P.A.L.S. certification from the American Heart Association. Pre-requisite: It is desirable but not required that an ALS certification be held.

This 5-day/45-hour course is designed for law enforcement officers involved in the tracking and monitoring of suspects through urban, suburban, or rural conditions for the purpose of documenting activities and potentially interdicting upon these actions. This training will provide narcotics and criminal investigators the knowledge of proper planning methods and techniques for conducting a successful foot, vehicle and stationary surveillance operation in an urban setting. Participants will receive instruction on: Operational Planning, Concealment Techniques, Prior Intelligence of Target Assessment, Safety Issues, Infiltration and Exfiltration Techniques, Equipment Needs, Personnel and Surveillance Strategies. This is a hands-on training exercise conducted under arduous conditions. Participants should possess a working knowledge of video equipment and be prepared to use it during training. This course is 90% field work. You will need a covert or unmarked vehicle and one video camera for every three (3) people. Please do not intend on using marked vehicles in this class. Course fee is waived for sworn/affiliated NC Law Enforcement Officers.
